LOCATION & TRANSFER
The Emerald Maldives is located in the Raa atoll which lies in the northern part of the Maldives. From Male we reached the resort via a 40 minutes seaplane transfer. Sea plane flights are my favorite way to travel in the Maldives since the views are simply out of this world! After arriving at the international airport in Male we got welcomed by the hotel staff and escorted to the Lounge where we waited for the boarding while enjoying some refreshments & snacks.
The Emerald Maldives offers a huge variety of different room categories for couples, families or friends traveling together. But no matter if you stay over the water or right at the beach – the villas are all light and spacious. Additionally all villa categories have private bicycle which are ideal to explore the island and reach all main areas.
We stayed in one of the all together 60 Water Villas right on the pier, overlooking the turquoise lagoon. With 176 sqm the water villas are very spacious with a bedroom and huge bathroom with walk in closet. The marble bathroom was definitely my personal highlight of the villa since it is super elegant with a bathtub in the center and a glass facade to watch the ocean while taking a shower.
The patio has a net to relax, sun beds and a table to work or enjoy a coffee. From our private ocean access we could directly jump into the lagoon to go snorkeling along the reef drop in front of our villa.
Other room categories:
Beside the regular Water Villas, the Emerald Maldives also offers many other categories. The following videos give you a virtual tour through two of the most beautiful villas.

The Concept of the Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa
As already mentioned above the Emerald Maldives is an All Inclusive Resort. But not a regular one! The resort has a Deluxe All Inclusive Concept with three à la carte restaurants (find more details about them below) and one buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner with changing themes. The concept even includes premium drinks throughout the entire stay and different activities.
The 20 hectares big island is surrounded by a sandy beach and offers the perfect paradise setting. A pathway fully circles the island which makes it easy to find all main areas without getting lost.
The Main Pool & Beach
The ideal place to spend a relaxing afternoon is without any question the main pool and beach. Several hammocks, cozy cabanas and sun beds make it easy to find quiet place and enjoy the sunshine. In the evening the pool and beach are the perfect place to watch the sunset and have a drink at the Sunset Pool Café.
In the evening the Emerald even sets up a bed on the beach which can be booked for a private cinema experience! What a dreamy and romantic way to end the day under the stars. 🙂
If you like to stay active during your vacation you can choose from countless possibilities at the Emerald Maldives! Starting from fields for Tennis and Paddle Ball to soccer, basketball and of course a fully equipped and spacious gym! All the equipment and refreshments can be found right at the sports area so you’re always ready for a spontaneous session or game!
My favorite way to stay active when we’re in the Maldives are water sport activities. At the water sports center you can rent the equipment for them. Many are even included: Like snorkeling gear, kayaks and even the rent of a catamaran boat (if you have a sailing license)!
The best spot to snorkel on the island is the reef drop which starts in front of the water villas and leads to the Sunrise Café. As soon as you have snorkeled some meters away from the beach, the water gets incredibly clear and we spotted countless species of colorful fish in the lagoon.
The Emerald Spa
This place absolutely surprised me! The beautiful Emerald Spa is built in Balinese style and the ideal place to recharge your batteries. No matter if your booking a relaxing treatment or just come to enjoy their jacuzzi in the relaxing area. It is located in the center of a koi pond and one of the most unique outdoor spa areas I’ve ever seen in the Maldives!
The ten bungalows around it offer a maximum of privacy during a massage. We enjoyed a Balinese couple massage in one of them and it’s been pure bliss!
The Kids Club
The Emerald is incredibly family friendly and has one of the biggest kids clubs in the Maldives. It’s called the Dolphin Club and offers so many fun & kids friendly activities inside and outdoors on 1500 sqm plus a kids restaurant . A highlight is definitely the big playground outside which even has a huge water park and pool, trampolines and so much more! I would have loved to be a child here myself since everything looked like so much fun 😀
Breakfast & Restaurants
The main restaurant of the Emerald is the All Day Dining restaurant Aqua which is located right at the beach. It has a lavish buffet inside with countless choices and live cooking stations which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with changing international themes in the evening.
Beach Club Grill
This restaurant is located right next to the pool at the main beach and serves lunch and dinner options in a casual beach chic atmosphere. The menu contains many seafood, meat and veggie options from the grill plus fresh pasta and pizza from a real pizza oven. To be honest, it’s really hard to find a good authentic pizza in the Maldives but the one at the Emerald was amazing!
This restaurant is perfect for meat lovers! At the Amazònico you can find all kind of Latin American classics and the high quality Brazilian beef – which gets perfectly cooked at skewers over the charcoal grill – is definitely a highlight. Beside the all inclusive à la carte menu you’ll find a salad bar and dessert menu at the Amanzònico with many authentic Latin American choices.
Last but not least – my favorite dinner restaurant at the Emerald Resort: Le Asiatique. As the name already implies the menu includes delicious creations of the Asian Chefs with different specialties from all around the continent. All dishes we tried where cooked to perfection and absolutely tasty! For an unforgettable dinner you can even book a spot at their Teppanyaki grill live cooking show which is included in the All Inclusive concept as well!
The Emerald Maldives Resort and Spa is the ideal hide away for families and couples which want to escape their every day life and escape to paradise. Thanks to the Deluxe All Inclusive concept you can enjoy your vacation without worrying about anything else but where you would like to have dinner in the evening. The spacious villas, excellent kids club, courteous service and the amazing choice of dinner possibilities are the guarantee for a relaxing vacation for everyone!
