Hello Milah,
You don’t necessarily need an IDP (International Driving Permit) for Jordan. We didn’t need one for renting a car with the rental car company Sixt. So it depends on the company. The best is to check the website of the company you’re planning to book wit first or get an IDP to be on the safe side. During controls by military on the streets we only needed to show our Passports (always have them with you in the front of the car) but never any driving license or IDP.

For navigation we always use the navigation system on our phones. Google maps is always up to date while offline maps might be outdated and rental cars usually only have a navigation system if you pay more. It is better to get a Jordan mobile plan (you can get a local SIM card at the airport after arrival) and use your phone.

We are planning to go to Jordan next year in April my question is do we need international driver license to rent a car? and do you use map or GPS to get to one places or other places? And if so does the rental car company provide the gps to you or do you use your phone for the directions? Thank you

We rented the car via Sixt – directly at the Kayseri Airport. But a credit card is necessary for that (also for the other rental car services)

Toller Artikel über ein tolles Land! Zu dem Spot oben auf den Klippen am Schatzhaus kann man aber auch sicher ohne Guide kommen wenn man den Al Kubtha Trail läuft welcher bei den Royal Tombs beginnt. So muss man nirgendwo klettern sondern kann einfach dem Trail folgen - spektakuläre Ausblicke auf das Petra City Center von oben inklusive!
